I painted California Poppies a long time ago.  It was when I was playing with negative spaces and the beginnings of abstraction.  This one was painted on hot press watercolor paper, which is quite a different surface and tricky to work on if you aren't used to it.  I had ordered the paper by accident and decided to give it a try.  I really like the piece now and hope you do as well.  It won an Honorable Mention in a competition too!
