An Autumn Landscape

This watercolor landscape does have some opaque watercolor in the negative spaces. I love the soft colors that create a glow. This piece is 14.5"x10.5".

Watery Perch

Don't these two look like they have a good view? I would love to be with them, on the water. It has been such a hot dry summer. I painted this from a friend's photograph. I love the shapes in this watercolor. It is 8.5"x14" and it is a seascape.

Tis the Season

Produce is wonderful now, and I am loving the red and green peppers. Lots of juicy color made this one fun to paint and the color reminded me of Christmas. It will add color to someone's kitchen all year round. It is 10.5"x13.5", so it will fit nicely into a 16"x20" frame with a mat. It is a still life done in watercolor.

Mom's Bowl With Blueberries

I found this little bowl in my Mom's china cabinet. It looked like a challenge, so I asked her if I could borrow it. There are three bowls that stack inside each other. I will have fun with them, I think. This still life is only 6.5"x6.5". It is watercolor. The difficult part of this painting was the blue design inside the bowl. I had to work on values to make the blueberries show up. They were yummy.

Springtime Celebration

Springtime Celebration is a watercolor and ink painting that takes me back to my time living in Arizona. I love the variety of hues and organic shapes in the cactus, but my main focus was the light pattern that played across the surface. I used black ink to exaggerate the pattern.
This floral is 14.5"x10.5".

This painting has sold.

Primaries

Primaries refers to the juicy colors in this still life of flowers and interesting copper and glass. It is a watercolor and it is 21.5"x14.5". I love pushing color and value in watercolor. I also wanted to paint the different textures that I saw in this piece.

Rocky Roadside

This small watercolor is 8.5x8.5. It is part of my Roadside Impressions Landscape series. I was working on creating volume and distance. It is also a new experience working so small. Fun too!

Roadside Impression 2

Another memory. I long for the rains that will bring out these beautiful colors and textures again.

Roadside Impression 1

This small watercolor is part of a series that is about the impressions that I am left with after a drive through the Hill Country. I love the textures and soft colors of the vegetation along the roadsides.

Summer Sweets

I painted this 7.5'x5.5" still life of three juicy cherries as a warm up for a demonstration. I am not accustomed to working this small, but I like it. It is fun working with the juicy paints, designing and layering quickly until just the right feeling is achieved. I will be painting more of these studies.
The photo is a little crooked though. The line is more straight across.

The Grape Pickers

The Grape Pickers is a small watercolor of children enjoying a sunny afternoon under the grape arbor. It is 17"x13". I always have enjoyed painting figures and when my children were young, I had them pose for me quite often. I like this painting because of the sun patterns that contrast with the cool shadows.

This painting has been sold.

Following The Sun

I love to paint sunflowers during the summer. I like the ones with the light centers because the dark centers demand too much attention. The bright yellow is keeping my spirits up while everything bakes outside. I think these guys are happy to be spending their days inside with me.
The painting is 14.5'x10.5". With a mat it will easily fit into a 16"x20" frame.

This painting has sold.

The Boss

This small, transparent watercolor is of a colorful and stately, but bossy rooster. It is 13.5"x10.5". I enjoyed painting this bird with attitude.

This painting has sold. I was sad to say good bye.
