Endings

This is a moody figure. Sometimes it is okay to just get the model's back. This one is also about textures and form.

Nice Compliments

I almost titled this one, "Nature Pushed." These daisies that have been dyed always kind of intrigued me, but I didn't love the unnatural colors. Then it dawned on me that I should work them into a composition. I had fun with the complimentary colors, thus the title. It was also a good opportunity to work with balance and negative spaces. It makes me happy now.

Flower Girls

I just had to do it. These beauties just needed to be painted. I love the way the two sisters are interacting and I also wanted to portray how different they are and how much they love each other.

Summer Breezes

Another view from my pond. I love these large graceful leaves with their long slender stems.

Spring Colors

I love the colors that my mind sees in the ancient oak trees of the Hill Country. I say my mind because I am sure that I editorialize. It is the fun part of being an artist. This one definitely says, " I am no slave to reality."

Pond Breezes

Fun watercolor. These are the beauties that live beside my pond.

Still Waiting

One more time. Let's see if this is an improvement.

Still Working

Yes, I am still working on this one. There is so much I like about it, but the details are needing work. I will work on it one more time and then put it away for awhile. I like the scribbles and the calmed down color. It seems appropriate since I was working from a sketch to have it look that way.

The Good Stretch

This is another demo that I started in the Waterloo Class. I was working from life drawing sketches again. Not as good as working from a model, but convenient. I will study it for a while and decide if it is ready to put in a frame.

Waterloo Watercolor Group

I am so focused on what I am doing I don't even notice the photographer. It was a good group of painters and I had a great time.

Beginning my demo

I thought this was a great angle for a photo. I was beginning to draw a figure for the class I was teaching in Austin. I think I like this stage the best. Great expectations!

Stop For Awhile 3

I am going to stop for awhile so I can give this one some thought. I like this model's pose. She is so pensive. There may be a figure behind her coming to see if she is okay. I am not that into telling stories with my paintings, but this one kind seems to have something going on.

Stop For Awhile 2

I am working on my values and edges. I reworked the face and glazed some of those bright colors a bit.

Stop For Awhile

This painting was not complete when I left the workshop I was teaching yesterday so I decided to work on it in a couple more stages to show a more finished piece.
