Funtastic Fruits

This shiny painting has a little gold paint on it to add a little pop. It was kind of a challenge as it is not my usual approach, but it is fun and very dramatic. It is large; 40" x 30", so it has a lot of impact. I think I had better put it away so I can't play with it anymore.

Going To Del Rio

Another landscape, different colors. This one is also acrylic on canvas. I enjoy the freedom of working with acrylics, but when I work with them for awhile, I feel the need to go back to watercolor and take lessons learned to that lovely paper.

Praying For Rain

I am working on a series of landscapes that are semi-abstract. I am working on designing interesting shapes and colors that impart a sense of space. So far, this is my favorite and it is acrylic on canvas. I am thinking I need to paint a rain dance soon!!!

Dreamer

Modeling is a difficult job. The pose must be interesting from all angles and the model must be still until the time is up. I find quick poses easiest to turn into fun paintings, because I can add patterns and designs that don't occur in the drawing session. It is a leap of faith when I turn a quick sketch into something I can put a title on. I love this young woman's curly red locks, so that is what gets the most attention.

Celebration

Yes, here it is again, in watercolor. Love that blue vase. Can't paint it often enough!

Tropical Again

I have worked on this colorful piece again, and I think it is done. It is large, 30" x 40", so quite dramatic compared to my smaller watercolors. It is acrylic on canvas. I had fun with the vibrant colors of the items, but also the shadows and creation of volume with shading. I love painting the blue glass vase and you'll see it often in my still life paintings.
