April Morning Poppies

I painted this little watercolor of poppies, thinking about the
beautiful patterns created by these delicate flowers blowing
in the April breezes. This floral is 14.5"x10.5".

Red Poppies

This painting is a watercolor with ink added for that strong contrast. The black makes the light warm colors glow. I enjoy painting behind things to create interesting negative shapes. This floral is 17.5"x14.5".

Desert Shadows

Another reminder of my time in the desert southwest. I love the sunshine and shadows because of the interesting shapes and patterns they create. I put this one in my floral category and it is a watercolor. It is 20"x14.5". It is a warm painting with cools for contrast.

Gathering Springtime

I love to paint flowers and I love to experiment with new techniques. This little floral combines these two because I started it with an abstract underpainting. My favorite part is the transparent jar with its interesting shapes and light and dark pattern. This is another transparent watercolor and it is 15"x11". I hope we get some rain, so that we will have wildflowers to gather next spring!

Desert Memories

I have spent many years living in the Southwest and I've found that I enjoy the beauty of the patterns in the desert landscape. This painting is a memory of the landscape that was lush and vibrant. I used watercolor to paint this piece and it is14"X10".

Through The Glass

In this contemporary floral I have combined some of my new favorite colors.  It is done with acrylics in a loose manner, with an emphasis on design.  It is 25"x13.5".  I call it Through The Glass.

Looking Inside

I love the feeling of this piece. She looks so introspective. The colors and shapes tell me that she is just taking a quiet moment after a lot of activity. This one has opaque watercolor, a medium that I am exploring quite a bit these days. The size is 14"x11". Figurative painting has always been my favorite.

Flowers For Mom

This watercolor was inspired by a photo of my nephews from a long time ago. I am hopeful that after some rain and the changing of seasons we will see landscapes filled with wildflowers again.
This painting is a landscape with figures. It is 13.3"x13.5".

Invitation to the Reception at North Hills Gallery

Sue Nosler Gray and I are having a show and we would love to see lots of people at our reception in Austin on Sunday.
This invitation has all the information about the show and reception.
Sue has a great web site, so check it out and you can see more of her wonderful work.

The show looks great! Come out and see us.

Inner Glow

This watercolor floral is 14.5"x11". The sunflowers have a nice movement and I used a little opaque watercolor in the negative shapes to create the glow. Otherwise, it has a nice transparency and fairly loose interesting shapes.

This painting has sold.

Just Peachy

This watercolor has been fun to work with. I started with color as a dominant theme, using complements. Then textures, reflections and edges became important. It is a still life and it is 11"x15". I think the peach looks pretty tasty.
